I travelled to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation to begin a project about the children of the First Americans and their struggle to live in a place very much removed from but a part of American life, and those in the community working towards a different reality. Tucked away in a remote pocket of southwestern South Dakota, living conditions on the reservation are considered - correctly or incorrectly - to be amongst the worst in the Western hemisphere outside Haiti.
